About the Director, Bioanalytical Services role within ICON: 

The Director, Bioanalytical Services will have overall responsibility for the operational management and delivery of ICON LC-MS bioanalytical laboratories and ensuring that all aspects of the laboratories at the site are operating to appropriate standards. This will include ensuring all equipment and instrumentation in the laboratory is operating to high standards and that the laboratories are appropriately staffed with relevant headcount and skillsets to deliver optimal service to our clients (both scientific, delivery and communication). Particular emphasis will be directed to driving the growth and range of services for peptide and protein bioanalysis by LC-MS.

The Director, Bioanalytical Services will ensure that ICON’s laboratory staffs are providing an unrivalled level of customer service to our clients through proactive communication and interaction with our clients. To attend key client visits to the laboratories, or ensure appropriate delegate is in attendance to engage with clients on a scientific level and ensure delivery of high quality service to all clients on all studies in line with their specific requirements.

To work as part of the site management team working toward the maintenance, development and continued growth of a profitable bioanalytical group and to ensure appropriate metrics are identified and tracked in all laboratories which provide visibility into the underlying laboratory performance (including quality, capacity and client delivery metrics). Maintain up-to-date knowledge and analysis of the trends within the marketplace and work alongside business development and operations to win appropriate new business from new and existing clients and deliver defined revenue and profit targets as set out in budget and relevant forecasting cycles.

To succeed you will need:

You will need A Ph.D. or MSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other Biological Science such as Biology, Molecular Biology, or Immunology.  In depth proven (5-7 years) leadership experience working as part of a bioanalytical environment (or equivalent) where there was an emphasis on production of high quality results.  Prior relevant (2-4 years) experience of working in a GLP/GC(L)P environment and managing GLP/GC(L)P audits of laboratory facilities.  Prior relevant (2-4 years) experience in delivering client-focused service.  In-depth understanding of the CRO or Pharma industry and proven management expertise.
