This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries.

 

Overview of the Role

·         The Director will lead and effectively manage a group of global project managers (PMs) and/or project directors (PDs).  Will ensure all project timeframes and milestones are met, costs are effectively managed and issues are mitigated and escalated as appropriate. .

·         As a Manager, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business. 

·         Develop, motivate and mentor PMs and PDs in multiple locations, as required.

·         Direct PMs/PDs to ensure projects/programs are conducted effectively, meeting key metrics, milestones, contractual obligations and client expectations in adherence with ICON SOPs, appropriate regulations and ICON’s quality standards.

·         Ensure PMs/PDs adequately evaluation probability and impact of risk, develop and implement quality and risk management plans for minimizing impact on project/program objectives and deliverables, and effectively manage project/program budget towards expected profitability.

·         Actively support staff with regard to change management.

·         Proactively participate in the recruitment, hiring and retention of suitable and qualified staff and ensure utilization rates are maintained oat acceptable levels.

·         Effectively manage assigned staff to ensure high performance, continuous development and low turnover (<15%).

·         Ensure all necessary training is provided to assigned staff to improve their job performance and knowledge.

·         Actively identify opportunities for process improvement. Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives, as assigned, and promote the sharing of best practice.

·         Function as a key, senior level liaison for ICON with one or more clients including participation in client operational governance committees, as appropriate.

·         Travel (approximately 20%) domestic and/or international

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Role Requirements / Skills / Experience Required

 

·         Must possess a University/Bachelor’s Degree in medicine, science or equivalent degree/experience.

·         Required: Must have Industry experience (i.e. CRO, Pharma, or Biotech) 

·         Qualification in Project Management or equivalent (PM certification) preferred.

·         A minimum of 11 years of full service project management experience with significant experience of single service project management.

·         A satisfactory progression and relevant experience of clinical, data or statistical management with some experience in leadership and/or management activities.

·         Track record of successfully managing large/complex global cross functional projects, strong domestic and international project management experience.

·         Strong leadership skills, demonstrated project management ability, and a positive approach in managing staff, clients and project related issues are necessary to perform successfully in a service-oriented environment.

·         Thorough knowledge of ICH GCP and relevant regulations for the conduct of clinical trials.

·         Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel both domestically and internationally. Therefore, dependent on the employee’s location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver’s license.
