Contractual Job Title: Legal Counsel / Compliance Professional – Ethics and Compliance
This job position is 60% office-based in Warsaw, Poland with the opportunity for 40% remote work.

Join our dynamic, ISO 37001 certified Ethics & Compliance team as a Legal Counsel and help drive ICON’s mission: to improve lives through clinical research.
In the role, you will be a part of the team that champions the ethics and compliance program, covering areas such as anti-bribery, anti-corruption, trade compliance, healthcare governance, regulatory and internal investigations, and more. Key Responsibilities
- Support ICON’s Ethics & Compliance Program, including anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and trade compliance initiatives, including:
- Assist with internal investigations of a compliance nature.
- Develop ICON’s global trade compliance program, advising on compliance with economic sanctions and trade restrictions.
- Review and advise on master service agreements, vendor contracts, and other third-party compliance terms.
- Manage responses to customer RFIs (Request for Information) regarding ICON’s compliance program.
- Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring global regulatory changes and ensuring ICON is always compliant.
- Support cross-divisional compliance projects, aligning strategies and objectives company-wide.
- Be a champion for compliance: communicate, drive, and embed requirements into every facet of our business operations.
- Offer pragmatic, timely advice on general legal compliance queries.
- Deliver engaging training sessions for employees, design educational materials, and monitor training progress.
- Design and implement impactful communications to embed policies and procedures throughout the organisation.
- Develop and track key metrics to measure our compliance framework’s effectiveness and prepare regular reports.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Qualified lawyer (2+ years PQE) of compliance professional (5+ years) with proven experience in legal, risk management or similar field, ideally including anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and/or trade compliance . Life science/clinical research industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in legal, regulatory, and risk management concepts and compliance standards-
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Equally comfortable working independently and collaborating across diverse functions and geographies.
- Proactive, positive, intuitive, organised, detail-oriented, and a logical thinker.
- Sound judgment under pressure, with the confidence to provide clear, assertive guidance when it matters most.
- Demonstrate strong discretion, emotional intelligence, and professional maturity when handling sensitive and confidential legal & compliance matters and investigations.
- Exhibits the ability to constructively question existing practices and processes and proactively support or lead ongoing enhancements to the Ethics and Compliance Program.
- Demonstrates a consistent ability to deliver measurable results in legal compliance and risk reduction.
- Committed to continuous learning and eager to explore new developments and innovations, including AI and emerging technologies relevant to compliance and legal fields.
- Flexible to work across global time zones with strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
