Senior Medical Technologist  - Microbiology

This is an opportunity to work within ICON's purpose built Laboratory in Dublin in a senior role, adding value through individual knowledge and expertise. Our Senior Medical Technologists  
assist with the daily management and operation of the department to ensure that contractual timeframes are met to the highest quality standards.
 
Key Activities will involve:
  • Performing general technical assignments and testing in the Laboratory accordance with current procedures and quality standards.
  • Direct and assist technical staff in the preparation of quality control documentation, organization of proficiency testing and compliance with appropriate regulatory procedures 
  • Oversee the maintenance of regular inventory of all reagents and spare parts required to ensure availability and future reagent usage prior to expiry dates. 
  • Establish productive relationships internally interacting with departments, such as Project Management, LIS, Global Validations, QA, Client Services and Global Labs. 
  • Manage external relationships with clients and external auditors
  • Assist with responses to queries and quality issues, participates in root cause analysis investigations.
  • Assist with Batch review, sign off in LIMS
  • Evaluate and validate new procedures as required
  • Mentor Technologists, Technicians, Lab Assistants, and Students
 
Educational Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Medical Technology or equivalent OR

  • Significant previous experience in Clinical Microbiology
  • A BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science majoring in Immunology,
  • A postgraduate qualification such as FIBMS/FAMLS/ASCP or MSc is highly desirable but not essential
