Senior Epidemiologist

We are looking for passionate, resilient, and inspiring individuals to join our team. As the Senior Epidemiologist you will be responsible for developing and leading epidemiology research projects. You will be for the design, implementation and analysis of epidemiologic or health economic projects; using standard project management techniques to track financial performance and manage communication of projects; provide epidemiological and/or health economic input into study proposals; and to provide mentoring and leadership to junior staff.
The role
- Lead the design, execution and reporting of real-world database (RWD) studies
- Be responsible for the technical delivery of projects, including coordinating and delegating to junior team members, performing study related tasks, and acting as the primary client and subcontractor contact.
- Lead the writing of study protocols, statistical analysis plans and study reports
- Provide methodological insights and senior review in support of various study documents
- Provide scientific and methodological expertise to teams and clients on various aspects of study design to address research questions
- Develop abstracts, manuscripts and/or presentations to conferences for projects
- Contribute to business development activities and proposal writing
- Lead operational efficiencies of workflows, including writing of internal guidance documents (e.g., SOPs, business processes, quality management documents)
- Develop strategies for solving scientific/technical challenges within ICON Commercialisation & Outcomes
- Provide methodological support to other branches of ICON
- Manage project teams and mentor junior staff. Liaise with other Teams and Consulting Practices to ensure smooth integration of proposals and project delivery
What you need
- MPH, MSc or DrPH, PhD (or an equivalent degree) in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics or a related discipline. Doctoral level with 3-5 years experience or Master's degree with 5-10 years experience in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or related field.
- At least 5 years experience with real world evidence research in Pharma or related industry; or a similar duration in an academic environment
- Experience designing and conducting prospective and retrospective epidemiologic studies, including database analyses.
- Experience utilizing large-scale patient-level healthcare databases (e.g., U.S. claims data, as well as EMR data)
- Technical knowledge/skills include regression analysis, sampling, knowledge of SAS programming.
- Ability to carry out high-level analysis and information gathering to address research questions.
- Commitment to working collaboratively and effectively with colleagues of other disciplines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience analysing large real world databases
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of real world data needs of pharmaceutical industry and regulatory authorities
- Publications in peer reviewed journals, and posters/abstracts in scientific conferences
- Understanding of advances in real world data analytics
- Demonstrable technical expertise in a consulting environment
- Demonstrable evidence of participating in or leading teams
- Previous experience of business development
