Senior Manager, Bioanalytical Services LC-MS/MS Operations- Bioanalytical Services

We are seeking a Senior Manager of LC-MS/MS Operations to provide scientific and operational leadership for ICON’s Bioanalytical Services team in Lenexa, with a focus on regulated LC-MS/MS studies. This role is responsible for overseeing method development, validation, and regulated sample analysis, ensuring operational excellence, team performance, and client satisfaction within a GLP-compliant environment.

Operational & Scientific Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day LC-MS/MS laboratory operations and ensure delivery of client studies on time and within quality and regulatory expectations.

  • Manage workflows involving small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, siRNAs, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs).

  • Oversee method development, validation, and sample analysis in compliance with ICH M10 and GLP regulations.

  • Drive resource planning, instrument utilization, and capacity optimization across LC-MS/MS platforms.

Client Engagement & Business Support

  • Act as a scientific and operational point-of-contact for sponsors, supporting study design, troubleshooting, and client communications.

  • Collaborate with Business Development to support growth through technical consultation, capabilities presentations, and project proposals.

  • Represent LC-MS/MS operations during audits, client meetings, and regulatory inspections.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to GLP, GCP, and global regulatory standards across all LC-MS/MS studies.

  • Partner with QA to maintain SOPs, address compliance gaps, and implement quality-driven improvements.

  • Foster a culture of proactive issue resolution, continuous improvement, and data integrity.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and lead a team of scientists, analysts, and lab staff with a focus on performance, scientific excellence, and professional development.

  • Support onboarding, training, and career progression within the LC-MS/MS group.

  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and solution-oriented work environment aligned with ICON values.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including LIMS, clinical project management, and other global bioanalytical labs to align strategies and share best practices.

  • Contribute to department-wide initiatives supporting harmonization and innovation across ICON Bioanalytical Services.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in regulated LC-MS/MS bioanalysis, including supervisory or leadership experience.

  • Deep technical knowledge of quantitative LC-MS/MS methods, reverse-phase and size-exclusion chromatography, and regulated bioanalytical workflows.

  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet timelines, and uphold high scientific standards in a regulated environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with automation platforms, LIMS, and electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).

  • Knowledge of CRO operations and client service expectations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
