Instructional Designer/Learning Specialist
Location: EU - Remote Working option available
FIRECREST is part of the ICON plc Group and produces highly visual and engaging products for the Clinical Trial Industry. FIRECREST products help improve Site performance by delivering innovative and effective training to sites while complying with Industry Standards. As an organisation responsible for the development of clinical training for medical staff, the Content and Functional Reviewer role is critical to the delivery of accurate and high quality training products to our clients.
Role Summary:
As an organisation responsible for the development of clinical training for medical staff, the Instructional Designer role is critical to the delivery of accurate, relevant and engaging training products to our clients.
The Instructional Designer will work Subject Matter Experts to understand the source content (clinical trial protocols and other study material) and script content that is technically accurate, clear, concise, and meets the client’s needs.
The Instructional Designer will apply the principles of learning and instruction, and will work with Graphic Designers to design training products that are engaging, visually appealing, and instructionally sound.
In addition, the Instructional Designer will be focused on continuous improvement, helping to identify potential product improvements and innovative approaches to the design and development of training products in Firecrest.
Responsibilities:
- Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which centre around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance.
- As a member of staff, the employee is expected to embrace and contribute to our culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
- Script high-quality training products, including e-learning programmes and online information tools, within the timelines agreed with the Operations Project Team Lead.
- Apply instructional theories, company templates and standards, and impeccable attention-to-detail to ensure that the training products are of the highest standard.
- Liaise with the Subject Matter Expert to ensure the technical accuracy of the training products.
- Prepare and complete the audio orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work with the Graphic Designer and SME to develop a training product that is instructionally sound, presents the information in an engaging manner, flows well and holds the attention of learner from start to finish.
- Complete on-screen-reviews and identify updates that will maximise the quality of the final training product.
- Approve the final training product to indicate that it meets our internal writing and instructional design standards.
- Implement client edits and use these edits to identify potential product improvements.
- Implement new and innovative ideas to on-going projects, and share these ideas with the wider Instructional Design Group
Requirements:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Instructional Design/E-Learning/Technical Communications or related field
- Prior relevant experience in instructional design, specifically in the area of e-learning.
- Prior experience in the creation of medical or science-based content is preferred (but not essential.)
- Excellent writing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work with complex and intricate content.
- Strong creative and design skills.
- Willingness to assume individual responsibility for own deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced environment.
- Good team player, with experience working in a multi-functional team.
