This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Our Operations Engineer III ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of enterprise servers and components and related technologies in support of core organizational functions. Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in support of business processing requirements.
Responsibilities
• Manage enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure. Act as an escalation point for team members supporting these technologies.
• Define and implement strategies for integrating disparate operating environments.
• Design and review of new server systems, applications and hardware; architect the server infrastructure required to support these projects.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other functional areas within IT to ensure availability, reliability and scalability of corporate servers to meet business requirements.
• Provide off hours support through the use of a rotating on call procedure
• Demonstrated ability in being a major participant and/or lead for projects based on IT initiatives. Ownership of key tasks/milestones to achieve a successful implementation/closure
• Exemplifies an attitude of ownership and accountability with regards to the responsibilities of the role and works to build this mindset with others on the team.
• Provides expert technical support across multiple enterprise technologies –acts as the subject matter expert on one or more technologies.
• Research software and systems products and technologies to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
Requirements
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in a technical position supporting enterprise infrastructure required. 7+ years of related experience in a technical position supporting enterprise infrastructure preferred
• A history of individual contribution to successful projects which may include leadership type activities.
• Strong working knowledge of various technologies including items such as: Windows Operating Systems, Citrix XenApp, SolarWinds, Exchange 2010, Microsoft Clustering, Powershell, VMware ESX/ESXi/View, DNS, DHCP, What’s up Gold. Preferred Active directory
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and associated equipment.
• General knowledge of storage technologies such as storage area network (SAN) or Network-attached storage (NAS) as well as Unix based operating systems.
• Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee’s location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Driver’s license. Travel (approximately 5%) domestic and/or international
• Bachelor’s Degree, or local equivalent, in related field or equivalent relevant work experience; Industry standard certifications preferred.
