This role is part of Symphony’s Consulting group, leveraging data and analytic solutions to assist our life science clients improve the commercialization process and lifecycle management endeavors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Consults with customers and BD partner to drive new business through analytic solutions to meet quarterly and annual sales goals. Meets with clients when called in by a National Account Director (NAD) to discuss, document, and fully understand specific needs; maps the business needs identified to standard analytic solutions, and if needed scopes a customized solution..
· Develops a methodological approach to meet client objectives by leveraging their understanding of methodologies associated with standard approach and an understanding of healthcare data to customize as needed. May work with Strategic Consultants or Research Consultants to design and define scope where specialized knowledge is required
· Presents proposed solutions to clients and effectively articulates the business value of proposed deliverable/solution through a formal client presentation and addressing objections.
· Leads new consulting projects through effective transition to the project team, participation in kick-off and periodic status meetings. Provides guidance to the team as needed throughout on interpretation of scope and findings. Manages scope with the client to ensure engagement remains in scope or changes to scope are documented appropriately.
· Responsible for ensuring that final project aligns with client objectives and scope of work. Leads or collaborates on the structure, content and recommendations associated with the client deliverable.
· Serves as the subject matter expert on one or more areas related to Symphony’s consulting: Commercial Effectiveness, Payer Contracting and Market Access strategies, Targeting strategies and Promotional Response. Works to disseminate this expertise to others in the consulting group
· Provides mentoring and coaching to Consultants and/or Engagement Managers regarding subject matter expertise, methodological approaches, solutions value and how to advance and close sales cycles. Responsible for conducting formal training sessions, upon request.
· Drives innovation through custom engagements with client, including new product concepts and context solutions. Works with product managers and business unit team to translate unmet client requirements into business and functional specifications
· Participates in and drives thought leadership within and of the organization.
Education:
· Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, research-based social science, statistics, pharmacology, or quantitative methods.
· Preferred: Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree in business, marketing, research-based social science, statistics, pharmacology, or quantitative methods.
Experience:
· 7+ years of experience designing, selling and delivering analytics solutions to pharmaceutical manufacturers, including solutions which leverage patient and payer related data.
· Longitudinal Patient Analytics experience, in some combination of consulting, project management, leadership, or sales within the Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or a related support industry (e.g., Consulting, Data Provider).
· Ability to successfully deliver in-person presentations to prospective clients, in order to convey how a solution meets a business objective. The Principal will be selling a complex product/service/solution, requiring in-depth knowledge of the client’s business and how our solutions meet that need.
· Demonstrated ability in at least 3 of the following areas
· Consistent achievement of sales quotas or other quantitative objectives.
· Consultative selling approach to working with clients (internal or external);
· Demonstrated ability to learn a complex data and analytic solutions quickly through self-initiative and discipline.
· Leading cross-functional groups to create analytic solutions.
· Creating analytics-based solutions based on client needs.
· Working with complex datasets to create information and solutions with little guidance or oversight.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Expert-level knowledge of the healthcare and Life Sciences industries, in support of commercial operations and analytics.
· Demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding of healthcare data including claims, EMR and other clinical data to support the design of analytic solutions.
· Expert-level knowledge of Sales processes and related activities.
· Strong communication skills, including written and oral communication.
· Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Familiarity with SAS, SPSS, SQL or R.
Travel Requirements:
· Local and national travel, approx. 40 to 60% of work time.
· Live in the Eastern or Midwestern US
