Senior Director Pharmacovigilance and Safety Services EMEA

• Travel (approximately 15%) domestic and/or international.
Leadership
• Define the strategy for the department (PV or SRG) within the overall framework of the PV growth initiative (or other initiative as relevant) and operationalize it with the support of the directors.
• Communicate the strategy and the vision to the relevant stakeholders within and outside the department
• Get the team excited about the strategic vision and encourage contribution to ensure successful delivery as a team
• Review the strategic vision on a regular basis (at least annually) to ensure that it remains current and fit for purpose
• Attract, develop, engage and retain talent within the organization, by forming and leading high performing teams;
• Identify talents within your organization and create the opportunities for development that will ensure an internal pipeline for succession
• Oversee the department’s daily operations to ensure that expectations are clear, delivery is on point, quality is high, compliance is met and issues are proactively identified and managed.
Innovation
• Partner with internal stakeholders to innovatively combine service offerings
• Foster a forward looking process improvement culture that leverages technology and innovation to streamline and make processes efficient and effective.
Customer focus
• Be knowledgeable of the market in order to anticipate and drive changes to ensure continued growth
• Partner with Business Development and the rest of the ICON organization, as required, to ensure continued growth of the service area.
• Create a “sales culture” in the department (everyone is in sales) which covers new opportunities as well as deepening and broadening existing business relationships
• Partner with clients, directly or through the management team, to understand their needs and devise and implement solutions that respond to those needs, anticipating those needs where possible.
• Be ultimately responsible for regulatory intelligence and compliance with existing regulations in all project work
• Implement process, systems or resources changes as required as corrective actions following root cause analysis where issues are identified.
• Oversee daily operations to maximize customer satisfaction and engagement
• Serve as project director for assigned projects and programs, as applicable
• Lead and present at meetings and conferences as required
• Partner with the QPPVs as required
Business acumen
• Be familiar with the financial levers that ensure business success (profitability, cost control, margins, etc…) and partner with internal stakeholder to ensure that projects are run according to good financial and operational practices;
• Plan and manage resources proactively and in alignment with internal guidelines and contractual obligation to maximize client’s satisfaction within the project allocated budget.
• Contribute to the annual budgeting process for the department
• Escalate, as appropriate, identified issues that impact financial results
• Perform other activities as identified and requested by senior management
