What is Firecrest?
Aisling Curran, Instructional Design Manager, explains what Firecrest is and introduces the team working there.
The maxim we follow is that everything we do should make life easier for staff working on clinical research studies. This includes the training at the beginning of the study and bringing the data information online for the entirety of the project. What is e-learning?
E-learning covers the different parts of the online learning process required for each team member of a study. This includes the doctors, nurses and CRAs who need to fully understand what the drug is and what it is expected to do. Starting a study off with high quality, digestible training sets the right standard to continue throughout the project. This is done through our e-learning pieces which are created by our team of Pharmacologists, who work in a similar role to medical writers, working alonsided our 3D graphic designers, to create beautiful, innovative pieces of learning.
We also provide support throughout the studies – so much of the data created is paper based, which can be a real issue for human error. Our solution has helped those involved to move on to iPad-based work, which is proving to be more efficient and creates higher quality data.
What kind of roles does Firecrest have?
Firecrest offers some incredibly interesting and unique roles for those with scientific backgrounds and those with artistic and technical backgrounds to work together. For example, our Pharmacologists work closely with 3D graphic designers to create medical and science-based 3D animations. The Pharmacology team plays an important role to create animations which provide overviews of disease areas and the mechanism of action of the investigational medicinal product. The team draws from source content (including clinical trial protocols and other study materials) as well as external sources, to create scripts and visuals. These need to be technically and scientifically accurate, clear and concise, and relevant to our client’s needs. The team works together with 3D graphic designers to produce 3D medical animations through a process which involves story boarding and wireframe creation.
There are also important roles in our Customer Relations team. This team plays a crucial role as the bridge between our clients and our internal teams. Every study has its own Project Manager who oversees the trial. The support team pride themselves on being both proactive and reactive as required and there are opportunities available for graduates with excellent presentation skills.
