Role: Legal Associate / Paralegal *LI-MB1
Location: Dublin

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and hardworking paralegal/ legal executive to join a large, experienced in-house legal department supporting the negotiation and execution of global contracts.

The Role
The successful applicant will form part of a dynamic legal team working with key business stakeholders (in particular ICONs Clinical Operations, Study Start Up, Commercialisation and Outcomes (ICO) and supporting ICONs global business, legal and administrative needs in the area of clinical study contracts.
Role responsibilities include:
- First line legal review of large volumes of short form commercial contracts (CDA’s, clinical study agreements, service agreements).
- Application of fall-back and sponsor principles in negotiation of contracts.
- Assist senior lawyers in managing negotiations, disputes & investigations across the regions in a diverse range of subjects.
- General Administration; lead and manage various administrative tasks.
- Support the legal team in maintaining database of instructions and advising on appropriate contract language.
- Consult with Project Managers, Sponsor’s project leaders and other appropriate personnel on contract language and negotiations, special site requests outside of established parameters, and all other pertinent information toward the execution of contract-related documents for a given study.
Experience & Knowledge Requirements:
- Experienced paralegal or legal executive with suitable and strong commercial contract negotiation and drafting experience working in-house or for a law firm.
- Contract law experience.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Large law firm or corporate plc or pharmaceutical/CRO/biotech industry experience, a plus.
- Self-starter, who can work independently and make sound decisions when under pressure.
- Ability to manage a high volume of work.
- Solutions focused with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and organization skills.
- Confident and able to negotiate with clients in the best interests of ICON.
Education Requirements:
- LLB or equivalent law degree or legal diploma preferred.
- Third level degree in other disciplines considered with suitable contract negotiation experience.
