The role:
To manage the activities of data management studies and staff in a manner that ensures all timeframes and targets are met to the sponsor's
satisfaction and that costs are kept under control.
What you'll work on:
- Manage and Develop Team Capability
- Oversee the day-to-day activities and task management of the project team to ensure that a focus on quality, budget and timelines on each project is reached and maintained.
- Ensure the necessary training is provided to staff to improve their job performance and knowledge.
- Maintain documentation of training as appropriate.
- Assist with mentoring new Data Management project leaders/managers as appropriate.
- Lead and motivate a team according to organizational goals.
- Manage and appraise all staff under jurisdiction.
- Deliver Project to Quality, Timeline and Budget Requirements
- Plan, implement and deliver the project in accordance with the contract agreed with the sponsor.
- Manage projects in a timely manner in adherence with ICON SOPs, SSPs and appropriate regulations and liaise with other departments and project managers as necessary to achieve this.
- Determine the best method to resolve data errors and inconsistencies.
- Prepare and manage the overall project budget throughout the life cycle of the project, taking overall responsibility for cost control, timelines and project quality.
- Continually review the project contract in order to ensure that any out of scope work is managed promptly and efficiently.
- Liaise with ICON project/ departmental managers and sponsors on project related matters.
- Keep senior management informed of project status in relation to quality and timelines.
- Negotiate with clients and/or external customers/departments in relations to timelines and key deliverables.
- Typically responsible for handling multiple studies running concurrently
- Manage Resources and Costs
- Proactively identify resource needs and manage resources efficiently to meet project/department timelines (e.g. monitor study recruitment rates, monitor CRF retrieval, etc.)
- Maintain and Develop Processes and Systems
- Review and assess existing Data Management SOPs. Review and develop new Data Management SOPs.
- Review, assess and implement new technologies as appropriate.
- Monitor the results of implemented plans and recommend new actions as appropriate.
- Research and recommend new data management processes, which address customer needs and key business objectives.
- Other Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of management information.
- Liaise with other managers to improve the effectiveness of the organization.
- Liaise with global counterparts, as appropriate, to ensure consistency across ICON Data Management offices.
- Participate in business development activities.
