VP, Project Management Vaccines/Infectious Diseases
Position Summary:

Manage and direct the assigned PM management group to deliver projects in a complex matrixed environment executing multiple sponsor programs. Responsible for the Project Management function, overseeing the consistency and quality of the overall trial/program communications, direction, implementation, coordination, execution, control and completion of global cross-functional projects within the assigned geography. Ensure adherence to established Project Management methodology, ICON policies and SOPs, and study contracts and budgets.


Job Description:

• As a Manager, the employee is expected to recognize the importance of and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
• Travel (approximately 30%) domestic and/or international
• Direct, manage and ensure collaboration within a team of Directors and Project Managers in the planning, execution and governance of projects/portfolios in vaccines/Infectious Diseases
• Manage the resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals are met
• Provide technical support and guidance (including scope definition, risk identification and mitigation, resource planning, goals and deliverables) to assigned PM staff
• Keeps Global VP, PM, business sponsors, business-unit leadership and all stake-holders regularly informed of project/program progress, risks and issues through periodic reporting
• Identify and resolve issues that impact project scope, resources, schedule or budget through standard methods and communicate these to senior management
• Understand and manage project/program inter-dependencies to achieve program milestones/deliverables
• Oversee the tracking of project deliverables using appropriate tools (developing them as necessary)
• Conduct evaluations and assessment and implement required changes for all projects (including mid-project recovery of at risk Projects, re-scoping, postponement, or cancellation)
• Manage development, provide direction and support, and mentor PM direct reports
• In conjunction with colleagues, develop and implement new and improved processes related to program and project planning, budgeting, controls and management
• In conjunction with colleagues and senior management, responsible for setting agenda and developing training philosophy for ICON PM group, including successful execution throughout the team
• Ensure team alignment with cross-functional leadership goals and company initiatives
• Measure and report PM KPIs and lead continuous improvement
• Contribute to the ICON PMO model built on strong teamwork, frequent and transparent inter and intra divisional communication, continuous process improvement, metrics management and global team harmonization
• Other duties as assigned
