This is an exciting position available on our Commercial PHORCE Consulting team. The talented individuals we seek combine successful experience in the healthcare data science industry with the confidence to work directly with client executives informing their business decisions. The Data Scientist will contribute to crucial and time sensitive projects. Overall, the Data Scientist is a self-motivated individual who works successfully with other data scientists and non-technical business colleagues, leads independent data analysis, prepares visually attractive reports and clear documentation, confidently presents data analysis findings to both internal and external clients, supports redactions protecting patient privacy, and drives high client satisfaction. During periods without a specific client assignment, the Data Scientist will work with colleagues in Symphony’s Advanced Analytics team supporting current projects across our diverse client base as well as driving analysis on key industry issues targeted for future publication.
What do you have?
- 2 years’ relevant experience in the commercial healthcare industry (pharma required)
- SAS and SQL requires
- Experience working with prescription and patient claims data preferred.
- Ability and desire to learn analytics commonly used to support operations in commercial life sciences (pharma, biotech, and medical device) organizations
- Knowledge of machine learning and predictive modeling.
- Knowledge of relational databases, scripting languages, and statistical computing packages, including R, Python, Hadoop, and Oracle
- Knowledge of applied statistics, including regression models.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics or similar subject, or international equivalent
Primary Responsibilities:
- Translate client business questions into proposed analysis plans, seeking input from colleagues when appropriate, and confirming client buy-in before proceeding.
- Experience with marketing analytics such as ROI, promotional measurement and multi-channel optimization
- Experience in building models (e.g., regression, decision tree, clustering etc.) based on large data from end to end, from methodology to execution
- Coordinate analysis with Third Parties as needed
- Provide recommendations based on analyzed data to solve a variety of business problems and enable business strategy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (customers, internal IT teams, etc.) to understand business needs, ensure data integrity and flow efficiency, and to create tools for customer utilization.
- Provide quality validations and ongoing support of clients and projects.
- Enhance or create new quality control methods to evaluate the accuracy of deliverables and/or project analyses.
- Manipulate and / or build query statements to perform data extracts across multiple data sets and platforms.
- Interpret Third Party reports to the business
- Drive implementations of Privacy redactions with Internal Teams.
- Finalize and deliver the results of assigned projects to internal clients

- Produces clear tool extracts/reports to provide deliverables to customers that are clear and efficient.
- Contributes to RFPs and customer requests as necessary in collaboration with business development.
- Collaborates with IT group to transform and prepare data for analysis.
- Appropriately balances the quantity/quality of own work with the business situation; demonstrates enthusiasm, drive and a sense of urgency when completing work.
